AT THE HOTEL

Things
to be aware of when staying at a hotel.

Always
keep fingers away from elevator doors. |
|
|

Avoid
using fireplaces in hotel rooms. If you do use
it, supervise children closely and teach them
never to go near it just in case the fireplace
has been used recently and is still hot. |

Check
your room for safety including, but not limiting
electrical outlets, furniture with sharp corners,
loose equipment - get down on all fours and take
a look from a child's perspective. |

Children
should not play on luggage carts. |
|
|

|

Don't
let children wander the hotel unsupervised. |
|
|
|

|

If
a child accidentally gets onto the elevator without
a parent, teach them how to get to the lobby and
go straight to the lobby desk. |
|

If
you are drinking alcohol in your room or there
is alcohol in the mini-fridge, make sure it is
out of reach of young children including empty
glasses - alcoholic beverages can cause serious
illness or death if ingested by a small child. |

If
you get caught in an elevator, press the emergency
button - but never play with the emergency button |
|
|
|

Make
sure you check the hot water for the bath to ensure
that the water is not too hot - also cool down
the tap before children go into the tub and instruct
them not to play with the taps - always supervise
young children in the bath - Never leave them
unattended. |

Make
sure young children can not reach coffee maker
or hairdryers while in the bath tub |

Never
fool around on escalators and always hold on to
the hand rail. |

leave the elevator with a stranger to their room. |
|
|

Put
all soaps, shampoos, plastic bags, matches and
toiletries out of reach. |

Remove
Dry cleaning bags or place them out of reach. |

Review
Hotel Fire Escape procedures and locate exits |

Review
safety concerns with children regarding jumping
from bed to bed, never standing on chairs on the
balconies, **don't let children out on balconies
without close adult supervision**, don't open
door, and any other concerns you may have. |

Watch
that young children don't eat any plants that
may be in the room or lobby. |
